Field Cards: every sighting, now a collectible

You already log what you see. Now Veld turns it into something you'd want to pin to a corkboard — a Field Card: a stickerized, foil-tiered trading card minted straight from your own sighting, ready to share.

How a card earns its foil

Tap "Make it a card" on any sighting and Veld builds the card from what its AI already detected about that encounter — no extra effort required:

  • Field — the species was identified
  • Amber Foil — life stage detected (juvenile, mature adult, etc.)
  • Gold Foil — a behaviour moment was caught (in flight, at the waterhole, mid-hunt)
  • Lumen — a rare species and a moment, together

Every card carries the rarity gem, trait lines, and the location and date it was taken — a little flavour text pulled from your own trip.

The sticker look

Flip the Photo/Sticker toggle and Veld cuts the animal out of the photo right on your device — no upload, no server round-trip. A white die-cut border glows in around the subject, and it lands on a sunburst background themed to the card's foil tier. It's a small effect with a satisfying amount of polish: feathered edges keep detail like antennae and thin legs, and stray background elements get cleaned up automatically.

Lumen cards go further — a slowly shifting holographic frame, a scatter of sparkles over the art, and a haptic thump timed to the reveal. (Respects reduced-motion settings, for anyone who'd rather skip the shimmer.)

Your deck

Every card you've minted lives in a swipeable deck — a hand-of-cards view, newest sighting first, reachable from the Collection screen. It's the whole point of the format: not just a single share, but a growing collection that's actually yours.

Pack openings

Log a handful of sightings in one go — a bulk photo upload, a full day's journey, or finishing off a Discover Pack — and Veld doesn't just add them quietly to your list. It opens them as a pack: cards reveal one at a time, worst tier first, so the best pull lands last and actually feels like something. The reveal ends by putting your best card front and centre with a "Share your [tier] pull" button, because that moment is exactly what a card format is for.

Try it

Field Cards are live now for every sighting you've already logged — nothing to set up, nothing to unlock. Open any sighting and look for "Make it a card," or head to the Collection screen for the deck.
